Use one adult character with a visible face, clear silhouette and minimal obstruction. A consistent reference helps the expression sprites remain recognizably the same person.

Choose how the player knows the character. A specific relationship creates useful history, boundaries and tension for the opening scene.
3. Pick a playable hook
Use a situation that demands a response now. A decision, misunderstanding, confession or boundary creates more momentum than a general character description.
